Drupal 8 is out now
Now that Drupal 8 is available, support for Drupal 6 by the core and security teams will cease - that means no security fixes, bug fixes or other core updates.
Contributed module authors will move to Drupal 7 and Drupal 8 too.
Drupal 6 is nearing the end of its life

Nearly all of the functionality you have on your Drupal 6 site can be implemented using contributed modules.
